Most novel readers become hooked on hype. This is the hype that comes from mainstream media regarding the publication of a novel by a well known author. Society has become hooked on this hype. They figure if the media print it and broadcast it, it has to be great. Hooked on hype is like a brand new commercial for a product that has a large advertising budget. Those who budget is minimal suffer. We have become so caught up in being hooked on hype that we tend to ignore substance.
